４歳からヤマハの音楽教室で音楽に触れ合い、８歳からトランペットを、１６歳からクラリネットを始める。１７歳でようやく音楽家を志すことを決意 し、武蔵野音楽大学に入学。同大学卒業後、マンハッタン音楽院とマネス音楽院で学ぶ。２０１２年ジュネス国際音楽コンクール２位、第１１回ＫＯＢＥ国際学 生音楽コンクール最優秀賞など数多くの賞を受賞。ニューヨークを中心にアメリカ、日本などでソロ、室内楽、オーケストラの演奏活動を行う。これまでに伝田 高広、山本正治、チャールズナイディックの各氏に師事。ステージの上でぽつんと一人寂しいソロよりも、仲間と音楽をシェアできる室内楽が好きなので、２０１３年よりハートフォード大学で室内楽専門の特待生コースに在籍。大島文子氏の指導のもと、アーティストデ ィプロマ取得を目指す。

Yumi Ito has been performing as a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral player throughout Japan,
the U.S. and other countries. After receiving her BA from the Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo
studying with Masaharu Yamamoto, she completed he MA at the Manhattan School of Music under the
direction of Charles Neidich and Ayako Oshima. She is currently continuing her clarinet studies at the
Hartford school. Yumi Ito is the winner of the second prize of the 42nd International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Belgrade and also the special prize winner for the best performance of the compulsory piece. She is also the first prize winner of the 11th KOBE international student music competition.
